Become a volunteer driver
Demand for our help continues to grow, so we need to find new volunteers in Ashbourne, Wirksworth and in all villages across the Southern Derbyshire Dales to help us provide this important service to everyone who needs it.
Some of our drivers help us several times a week. Others can only offer a few hours a month. However much time you can offer, we would love to hear from you.
Volunteer Drivers need to have a full driving licence, and a reliable car. We will provide relevant training and support, and will reimburse you for the mileage you incur. But most importantly, you will know that you are making a crucial difference to the lives of those you help.
Criminal Records Bureau Enhanced Disclosure Certificate
The Voluntary Car Scheme works with elderly, disabled and vulnerable people. From time to time, we are also requested to provide transport for families with children.
We therefore require all volunteer drivers to hold a certificate of enhanced disclosure that has been issued by the Criminal Records Bureau within the last five years. If you do not currently hold a certificate and wish to become a Volunteer Driver with the Car Scheme, we can assist you in obtaining one.
